This key position, located in Victoria BC, in addition to providing high level HR support, will also provide the necessary and ongoing administrative support required across the board within Driftwood. Reporting to the Business owners and company leaders, the Manager of People & Operations will be accountable for all related activities within their department and will be a key player in the continued success of Driftwood Communications.

The Manager of People & Operations provides ongoing advice and support to all departmental leaders from employee recruitment, employee training and development to employee relations and disciplinary matters. This role also includes providing HR reporting and on-going performance management initiatives in accordance with applicable legislation, policies and procedures. The successful candidate must enjoy working in a fast paced environment, genuinely like working with people and be excited to help foster an open, transparent and happy workplace.

  • Clear understanding of Government regulations (Federal and Provincial) for Canada Labour Code and BC Employment Standards Act
  • Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality when working with sensitive HR information
  • Ability to research and create appropriate HR related files and documents in accordance with the Public Service Act, Human Resources Manual and other applicable resources.
  • Diploma in Human Resources Management, Labour or Industrial Relations or a related field from a recognized College. Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years related HR experience

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with HUMI HRIS and Payroll
  • Experience in the Telecommunications industry
